FD Chaplain Services, Inc. is an organization whose primary purpose is to provide spiritual care and comfort to members of the fire service and other first responder agencies, their families, and victims of emergency and crisis incidents. FD Chaplain Services, Inc. is a Christian organization serving God providing care and comfort to those in the fire service and other first responder agencies. Chaplain services are rendered to those of all faiths, or no faith. Chaplain Goodman serves as Fire Chaplain to four SW Florida fire departments with over 500 personnel. In addition, he provides chaplain services to surrounding departments without a Chaplain.
FD Chaplain Services, Inc. is an asset to fire departments by providing care and comfort to first responders and victims on scene by providing a calm presence in the face of seeming chaos. Following a crisis, FD Chaplain Services, Inc. refers victims to community support agencies, notifies appropriate clergy on behalf of victims, and cares for victims and their family members. Executive Director Mark Goodman has provided chaplain services during national tragedies as Hurricanes Irma and Ian, and the Champlain Tower collapse in Surfside, Florida in June of 2021.
FD Chaplain Services, Inc. interacts with fire department personnel at strategic times prior to, during, and following an incident. FD Chaplain Services, Inc. provides educational programs and training to support the physical, emotional, spiritual, relational, and financial well-being for members of the fire service and other first responder agencies, and their families. This includes offering seminars on stress management, grief, leadership, and finances. Marital and pre-marital counsel is offered to help strengthen those family relationships. Developing relationships with fire department personnel and their families is a high priority to encourage use of the services offered.
FD Chaplain Services, Inc. assists fire departments in developing Peer Support Teams and the SOG’s (Standard Operating Guidelines) to implement and operate those essential programs.
FD Chaplain Services, Inc. provides an ongoing program of classes offered to those desiring to become Chaplains within their departments. As an Instructor certified by the State of Florida and the Federation of Fire Chaplains, Executive Director Mark Goodman will provide courses and seminars for Chaplains in SW Florida and anywhere in the United States.
